Grey grew up alone in the woods. His mother had been a loner and died when he was young, like the rest of his siblings. When he found Dapple alone in the woods, he cared for her the best he could until he and Dapple were found by Squirreltail of GroveClan. Grey reluctantly accepted his help, and he has followed Squirreltail ever since.
When Squirreltail brought Greypaw and Dapplekit down to meet with GroveClan’s enemies, Greypaw was hesitant to follow. But he trusted Squirreltail, and so the three joined ChasmClan.
Greypaw assumed he would continue his apprenticeship to Squirreltail, but Nightstar had a different plan. Nightstar saw something special in Greypaw, and asked to take on his mentorship. Squirreltail happily agreed, thinking that it would be good for Greypaw.
Greypaw hated training with Nightstar at first. He was so different from Squirreltail. He hated the caverns too, just wanting to return to the forest. Over time, however, Greypaw learned to accept Nightstar and his training, and over time, Greypaw earned his warrior name of Greystorm.
Greystorm has always been quite distrustful of others, especially when ChasmClan first formed. It took a lot of time for him to grow that trust, but under Nightstar’s leadership, he eventually did. Despite that, Greystorm is quite friendly and loving towards those he does trust.
Squirreltail was Greystorm’s hero. He always wanted to be just like him, a great powerful warrior who commanded with respect instead of fear. He hoped one day when Squirreltail became Squirrelstar, he would choose Greystorm as his deputy in his steps. That day never happened. Squirreltail was killed by dogs, and Greystorm was never the same since.
Greystorm had never loved another cat the way he loved Dappleberry. All he wanted was to protect her and keep her safe, but since Squirreltail’s death he came to realize that he cannot protect anyone. He could not save Squirreltail. He could never save Dappleberry.
